Founded in 1941, Canossaville Children and Community Services (formerly Canossaville Children’s Home) offers residential care to girls aged between 6 years to 12 years who come from family situations which may put them at risk. The Special Student Care Centre offers before/after school care for boys and girls, including those with special needs; with priority for the most needy.
A conducive environment is provided for the children to learn, play and grow. Character building and formation of the heart form an integral part of the core services, with a focus on cultivating key values such as happiness, confidence, resilience and other-centredness. The hope is that these children will in turn contribute positively to society. The organisation is licensed by Ministry of Social and Family Development and run under the guidance of the Canossian Daughters of Charity.
Transitional Plans for 2017 onwards
In view of the changing social landscape, the new name of Canossaville Children and Community Services (CCCS) was adopted in January 2017 to serve the larger community in MacPherson/ Aljunied. There are plans to expand the Special Student Care Centre, as well as start an Inclusive Childcare Centre to cater to both mainstream and special needs children from the community. Plans to include a specialist team, consisting of speech therapists, educational psychologists, social workers etc., called "Canossian Circle of Care", is also in the pipeline to provide additional professional help required by the children and families within the community. Operations for the new centres will begin in 2018.
