What do you mean when you say "net profits"? When a purchase of a fabric postcard or one of the fabric gifts is made through PayPal, there is a small service charge that goes to PayPal for using their service. As an example: The sale of a $20 postcard would have approximately .88 service charge that goes to PayPal. The balance of $19.12 (net profit) goes to women diagnosed with breast cancer. In every case of a purchase of a fabric postcard or fabric gift made by artists from around the country, the net profit goes to the gift it forward project.
How are you getting the money to the women with cancer? I work with the oncology department at St. Mary's Hospital in Rhinelander, Wi and other cancer support groups throughout the country. I do not personally give the money to the women, the groups and hospitals make sure the money goes to women that need it and it protects their privacy. That's part of the gift it forward program. There is no need for anyone to know I ever gave this money to them. The women only need to know that someone cared about them and now they can gift it forward in whatever small way too.
Why Begin A Gift It Forward project now? Why not now? It's never too late to try and make a small difference in the world. The passing of my friend got me motivated to help women diagnosed with breast cancer in a small way.
How Can I get Involved? You can get involved by purchasing a fabric postcard or a unique fabric gift and 100% of the net profits will go to women diagnosed with breast cancer. You can make a cash donation and 100% of the donation goes to the cause. Or, you can begin your own Gift it Forward project. Make your own products to sell and get your friends involved too. It's fun to combine a passion you have in life and help others at the same time.
If I want to donate something for you to sell, does it have to be made of fabric? No, I will accept any creative piece of art, however, I prefer it to be made of fabric. I believe a narrow focus on one type of "material" or media has more strength than trying to offer something to everyone. I do not want the website to become a hobby or craft site, my goal it to focus on textiles and fabric and mixed media.
How do you determine the selling price of items? Sometimes that's tough with handmade items because of the care that went into the piece, but every product has a value and I try to remember that the sale of this merchandise goes to a cause.
Can I pay for an item with a personal check? Yes. Send the check made out to Beverly Hlavka and mail it to 3020 Wausau Road, Rhinelander, Wisconsin 54501. Allow a little more time for the product to arrive as the check will need time to clear.
Ask questions from the heart and you will be answered from the heart.
